Insurance

If you are undertaking work experience your employer may request you to organise insurance. The type of work experience will determine whether the university or employer should provide insurance.

Unpaid work experience insurance (not a course requirement)

Unpaid work experience, which is not a requirement of your course (i.e. not for credit), can be covered by the University's Personal Accident Policy. Your employer may request you to provide evidence of this insurance cover. You can organise this through our office.

Confirmation and a copy of the insurance policy will be emailed to yourself and the employer.

Conditions

This Scheme is available to QUT students who wish to obtain voluntary work experience outside their course of study in an area that is directly related to their course of study.

The following conditions must be adhered to:

Work experience (for course requirement)

For courses where it is a mandatory requirement to undertake formal work experience, you should contact your School Office to organise your insurance cover. The extent of insurance cover will vary depending on whether your work experience is paid or unpaid.

Paid work experience

If the work experience you are undertaking is paid work, you are essentially an 'employee' of that organisation and will be covered by the organisation's insurance under your work contract.
