Insurance
If you are undertaking work experience your employer may request you to organise insurance. The type of work experience will determine whether the university or employer should provide insurance.
Unpaid work experience insurance (not a course requirement)
Unpaid work experience, which is not a requirement of your course (i.e. not for credit), can be covered by the University's Personal Accident Policy. Your employer may request you to provide evidence of this insurance cover. You can organise this through our office.
- Step 1: Download the Unpaid Work Experience Insurance Application (PDF 1MB) or collect one at a Careers and Employment Office.
- Step 2: Both yourself and the employer complete the relevant sections and sign the form
- Step 3: Return the form to a Careers and Employment Office, or fax it to 07 3138 2368, or email to careers@qut.edu.au.
Confirmation and a copy of the insurance policy will be emailed to yourself and the employer.

Paid work experience
If the work experience you are undertaking is paid work, you are essentially an 'employee' of that organisation and will be covered by the organisation's insurance under your work contract.
