" The Careers fair is an opportunity for employers to come on campus and get to chat to a lot of the students face to face and likewise its an opportunity for our students to speak with those employers and find out what's behind those glossy brochures."

TEXT: How many employers?
Dr Alan McAlpine, Manager of QUT Careers and Employment:
" This is our largest career fair to date. This year we have over 160 employers on campus. Ranges from small to medium enterprises right up to international employers. We have a significant amount for international students here at QUT and It is a great opportunity for them to start touching base with some of those employers, that could actually potentially recruit them back into their home country."
What are you looking for?
Male student 3:
" Yeah well I basically am here just to get an idea because I am a first year and I wanted to know what companies are out there and see what the best options are for me for like work experience and later on in life."
Female student 3:
" I am a second year student anyway so I am looking forward to getting experience in any organisation now."
Female student 1:
" So I have just been talking to the employers see if they can provide me with what I am looking for, and see where my skill set fits well with companies."
TEXT: How should students prepare for work?
" Before they graduate QUT students should really be looking for some opportunities get some form of work place experience, so that it can go on their resume then they can better sell themselves and understand where their skills fit in the workplace of today" .

" Firstly we have offered a scholarship at QUT and that is targeted specifically at second years."

" Got some good information about those companies, what they do, and what the opportunities are there, so I will be following a couple of the up them later and we will see how we go."

Yeah they have given me quite a lot , of what to expect when I start work, yeah it has been really interesting.
