Insurance
Students undertaking QUT approved work integrated learning (WIL) such as Work Placements, Internships and Practicum as part of a course of study in Australia, are covered by QUT's Personal Accident, Public Liability, Professional Indemnity and Medical Malpractice insurance policy. For details on all insurance policies for work that cover QUT students, see the Insurance section of QUT's Finance and Resource Planning website.
QUT also provides work experience insurance for students who undertake voluntary unpaid work experience that is not-for-credit, but is directly related to their study. This is for students who have obtained relevant work experience, that is not a formal requirement of their course but will complement their studies and help prepare them for, and to obtain future employment. The information on this page relates to work experience insurance (not-for-credit).
Students are responsible for arranging the completion of the required documentation and request that their employer/immediate supervisor sign the insurance agreement.
Insurance application process:
- Step 1: Student downloads the Unpaid Work Experience Insurance Application (PDF 1MB) or collects one at a Careers and Employment Office.
- Step 2: Student and the employer complete the sections and sign the form
- Step 3: Form returned to a Careers and Employment Office, or faxed to 07 3138 2368, or emailed careers@qut.edu.au.
Confirmation and a copy of the insurance policy will be emailed to student and employer.
